Smoked meat Poutine: fries, cheese curds, roasted chicken gravy and smoked meat
Poutine is a typical Canandian fast food dish that is made with french fries, topped with gravy and curd cheese. Given that winters are cold as a witches tit in Quebec, I imagine Poutine is the kind of fast food that Canadians crave when they’re freezing in the middle of January.
The dish is significantly more traditional at Mile End Sandwich Shop, the Quebec grown Jewish Deli on Bond Street. The poutine is outfitters with hunks of their house-smoked meats, and the crisp fries are layered with plentiful heaps of half-melted cheese curds. While the meat was appropriately tender and moist, my only gripe was that it was semi-cold-  Perhaps it was because we arrived a half hour before closing but it was the only disappointment to an otherwise satisfying, messy heap of artery clogging carbs.
